Andy Stern is a useful idiot.
So says Jonah Goldberg in his latest column on China envy. Read it. Twice.
Last month he shared this gem to help readers get perspective:
Michael Levy, who recently wrote a book on his stint as a Peace Corps worker in rural China (yes, China still asks for Peace Corps help) put it well in an interview with NPR: "Imagine that there's a country exactly like the United States. Exactly the same size. It's got the same cities. It's got the same number of rich people and poor people. It's just like us. And now add 1 billion peasants. That's China."
You should read that whole article too. There will be a test on it next year come election season.
I'm not kidding. I fully expect the President to continue to point to China as the model economy. Humans have a tendency to go back to familiar themes when they are in trouble. They find it comforting.
It will work if you aren't prepared to answer with facts.
