The bridge was originally scheduled to be replaced under half-width construction.  However, as a result of the deteriorating condition of the fascia beams, the bridge will be completely closed and a detour established.  Because the car detour is nearly 10 miles long, an ambulance will be placed  on the north side of the bridge, and PennDOT will pay to provide 24/7 ambulance coverage by two emergency responders.  This $1.8 million dollar bridge replacement project will be completed by HRI Construction.  The original bridge was completed in 1950.

The project that is starting today will include drainage work, pipe replacement, mechanized edge repair, base repair, new guiderail and milling out the old pavement and replacing it with a new 4 inch surface.  This work is expected to be complete by the middle of July. Throughout the duration of the project, there will be single lane closures in various locations with flaggers controlling traffic.  Delays are anticipated and motorists should use extreme caution when travelling in the area.
