Keyser Ave: From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day this week, work will continue on Keyser Avenue between Ferdinand Street & Market Street and at the bottom portion of the Morgan Highway.  There will be significant delays at the intersections of Keyser Avenue, The McDade Expressway and The Morgan Highway each day.  This week a contractor will repave the area.

Harrison Avenue Bridge:  As part of the ongoing project to replace the Harrison Avenue Bridge, the Central Scranton Expressway is a single lane pattern in each direction.  This single lane pattern will be in place throughout the summer in order to allow the contractor to work on the bridge from underneath.  Also, this weekend the Harrison Avenue Bridge will close.  Throughout the duration of the bridge replacement project, the contractor will be able to maintain traffic on the bridge for the vast majority of the time.  However, from Friday, April 24 at 10 p.m. to Sunday, April 26 at 9 a.m. the bridge will be completely closed to vehicle traffic with the only exception being emergency response vehicles.  The Scranton Police will be onsite throughout the bridge closure to help direct traffic and to allow emergency response vehicles to cross the bridge.  A detour will be in place for all other vehicles.  Pedestrian access will be maintained.  This work is part of an $18 million project to replace the Harrison Avenue Bridge, with an expected completion date of July 2017.

Edella Road: SR 4019 (Edella Road) over Interstate 81 in Clarks Summit is being closed until further notice, but work is underway to repair the bridge.  Recently, a PennDOT inspector noticed movement that has occurred in the abutment on the lower end of the bridge.  As a result, in order to maintain the highest level of safety for the traveling public, the road is being closed and a detour is being set up. At this time, there is no estimated date for reopening, but the closure is expected to be in place for at least a number of weeks. This bridge is scheduled to be replaced in 2016 as part of the P-3 Initiative in which PennDOT awarded a contract to Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners to replace 558 structurally deficient bridges over the next three years.

Long Term Projects:

SR 6/11:  On Monday, March 16, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Reading Materials began a $42 million restoration of State Route 6&11.  The project will start in Clarks Summit and go to where 6 and 11 split in Wyoming County.  The first phase of the project will be constructing crossover lanes from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes and moving all traffic into a single lane pattern on what are now the eastbound lanes. Under a separate $5.2 million contract with New Enterprise Construction, a “mill and fill” repaving project will occur in Clarks Summit this summer as well.  This project will begin where SR 6&11 intersects with Interstate 81/Turnpike and will go through Clarks Summit, connecting to the $42 million restoration project.  Portions of this work will occur at night in order to have as minimal impact on businesses as possible.  As part of the project, College Avenue is currently closed and a detour is set up.

SR 6 (Casey Highway): Installation of Cable Median Barrier from 84/380/81 Interchange to Exit 4 Archbald. Work Beginning the week of April 20th and continuing to August 2014.
